Signs of Sick Cats
There are many different signs of sick cats to look out for and the many different symptoms can be very confusing when trying to attribute them to a particular disease. Many conditions have the same generic symptoms with nothing that outwardly defines them. This is why it is vital to take your cat to the vet if you notice any symptoms so that your vet can diagnose your cat properly.
Cats are notoriously good at hiding their conditions. Their instincts tell them not to show weaknesses and this means hiding any symptoms of feeling unwell. They’ll often do their best to carry on through the pain as if everything is normal. If you notice a symptom such as apparent pain or discomfort you should never dismiss it as a minor affliction even if your cat is quite quiet.
The signs of sick cats not only include outward symptoms such as irritated skin, accidents around the home or bleeding. They also include any pain, discomfort and abnormal behavior. While fatigue on it’s own may not necessarily signify that something is wrong on its own, when coupled with other symptoms such as fever or difficulty urinating it is definitely worth looking into. If your cat is abnormally tired or excessively tired and you have tried a change of diet for example to boost your cat’s energy it is considered an adequate symptom to be concerned about. If in doubt, it is always safer to make an appointment with your local veterinary clinic that will be more capable of accurately diagnosing signs of sick cats.
Make a note of your cat’s regular routine and habits. Cats do not tend to stray away from their usual daily routines and a change in this such as a change of eating, sleeping or toileting can be an indication that something is wrong with your cat. Whether your cat is affectionate or not, a change to the opposite behavior is also a symptom of your cat not being well.
Once you have taken your cat to the vet when you notice the signs of sick cats, you should try to provide your cat with some home treatment to help them recover depending on the condition they have. If your cat has suffered an injury, muscle trauma or other such debilitating affliction you should ensure they stay inside and get plenty of bed rest.
